Production Flow

Plain pressed
The bamboo strips can be glued together either horizontal or vertical. In a 'plain pressed' panel the bamboo knots are facing up. The pattern and characteristics of the bamboo nodes are visible. Plain pressed bamboo plywood has a thickness of 5 mm.
Drying and sanding
After the carbonizing treatment, bamboo strips are dried in a kiln for about five days. They will stay there until reaching a moisture content of approximately 8-10%. Once dry, we will sand the bamboo strips to their final 20 x 5 mm dimensions.
Splitting bamboo poles
Bamboo is empty inside but it is hard and very strong, we have to make them solid. We have to split bamboo poles. The bamboo poles are placed in a special machine that converts them into rough bamboo slats. The poles are pushed through a metal 'splitter'
Cutting to size
A band saw is used to convert 20 mm side-pressed plywood into 3-9mm panels. After sawing into thinner boards, we will build 3-5-7 or 9-ply bamboo panels by thin panels quickly.
